# How to Change Your iCloud Password

The easiest and most secure way to update your password is using your iPhone,
iPad, or Mac. This guide will walk you through the exact steps to change your
Gmail password safely. Please take your time and follow along at your own pace.

Note: Your iCloud email does not have its own separate password; it uses your
main Apple Account (Apple ID) password.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

 * Your current email password.

 * An Apple device (iPhone, iPad, Mac).

 * A pen and a secure notebook to write down your new password so you don't
   forget it.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO CHANGE THE ICLOUD PASSWORD ON IPHONE OR IPAD

 1. Open the "Settings" app. Look for an icon that looks like a gear.

 2. Tap [Your Name] (Apple Account) at the top.

 3. Tap "Sign-In & Security".

 4. Tap "Change Password".

 5. Enter your device's passcode to unlock the ability to change it. It is the
    code you use to unlock your phone.

 6. Create a new password:

 * Use at least 3 simple hyphenated words, each starting with a capital letter
   (e.g., Home-Dog-Work).

 * Do not use names, surnames, or locations that are personally related to you.

 * Add at least 4 numbers (e.g., Home-Dog-Work-1918).

 * Or Apple Password can suggest a strong password. You can use it as well.

ADDING AN EXTRA LAYER OF SECURITY (2-STEP VERIFICATION)

Most accounts already use two-factor authentication. If you’re not using
two-factor authentication for your Apple Account, you can turn it on using your
device.

ON YOUR APPLE DEVICE

 1. Go to "Settings" on your iPhone or iPad, or "System Settings" on your Mac.

 2. Choose [Your Name], then "Sign-In & Security".

 3. Turn on two-factor authentication and follow the onscreen instructions.

Now, if anyone tries to enter your email, you will get a notification asking to
confirm it's really you.
